Arjen Lubach chooses in Stars on the Canvas for 'his' portrait in Lego bricks.
In the first episode of the new season Stars on the Canvas, Ernesto portrayed BN’er Arjen Lubach. In Lego bricks. The comedian and program maker chose that artwork at the end of the episode.
Tonight was the premiere of the new season Stars on the Canvas. Arjen Lubach was portrayed by three artists and interviewed by Özcan Akyol. The popular presenter wondered aloud why he was actually participating in the show.
Observant viewers immediately saw a familiar face! Ernesto from Lego Masters, who made a fantastic LEGO portrait during this program, turned out to do this much more often. Also in Stars on the Canvas, he got to work with 'the colored bricks'. Viewers were in stitches because the brand name of the bricks (with which you can build anything) was awkwardly avoided.
Lubach had to get used to posing for a work of art. “You are somewhat used to people staring at you, but this is very intrusive.” Lubach had some trouble finding a pose; perhaps because he was not used to someone else being in control. “Why am I actually participating in this?”
The results of the paintings were… diverse! Artist Wolf painted Lubach as ‘his own puppet’, because he struggles to let go of control. Renee went for a realistic portrait and Ernesto created a stunning Arjen from ‘plastic building blocks’.
In the end, Lubach also chose Ernesto's work, as he found it the most unique. Rightly so, many viewers thought!
