Introdução

NL - Ernesto Lemke é um artista contemporâneo que vive e trabalha perto de Leeuwarden. Desde pequeno, seu sonho era se tornar cartunista. No entanto, durante seus estudos na Academia de Artes Minerva em Groningen, seu interesse se deslocou mais para o desenho e a pintura. Durante sua exposição de formatura em 1997, ele foi descoberto e rapidamente entrou no circuito de galerias. Apesar das críticas positivas em várias exposições, o sucesso duradouro não veio e, em 2005, ele focou em ajudar a fundar uma forma inovadora e progressiva de educação.

Em 2020, ele se inscreveu como candidato para a produção holandesa-belga do programa de televisão LEGOMasters 2021. Durante um dos episódios, a 'arte' foi o tema central, o que despertou novamente o artista que havia nele. Ele recebeu muitos elogios pelos dois trabalhos que criou e descobriu que havia encontrado uma maneira de se expressar artisticamente com Lego. 'Pintar com tijolos', por assim dizer, e assim nasceu o 'Brickpainting'. Como resultado desse sucesso, ele foi convidado a participar do programa de arte 'Estrelas na Tela', onde novamente venceu com um Brickpainting, desta vez de Arjen Lubach. Seu trabalho já foi compartilhado nas redes sociais do Museu Van Gogh, do Rijksmuseum, do Museu Fries e da Accademia Carrara. Em colaboração com o Museu Fries, Ernesto se aventurou em dezembro de 2021 a processar ao vivo uma pintura da coleção da National Portrait Gallery em um Brickpainting. Na primavera de 2022, uma nova obra será revelada na SBS6.

Ernesto ainda está ocupado explorando os limites do Lego para fazer retratos. O interesse em seu trabalho varia de comissões particulares, televisão, projetos e eventos. Ernesto está atualmente trabalhando em vários temas e ideias, buscando ativamente as melhores maneiras de compartilhar e exibir seu trabalho.

EN - Ernesto Lemke is a contemporary artist, living and working near Leeuwarden, the capital of the Northern province of Friesland, the Netherlands. His childhood dream was to become a cartoonist but whilst studying at the Minerva Academy of Arts in Groningen, he gradually drifted from drawing towards painting. Following his graduation in 1997, he was immediately scouted by several (now cancelled) Galleries. Although receiving positive responses, after several years of much trial and error he ended up rechanneling his focus to co-found a progressive and innovative form of education in 2005.

Whilst still teaching arts, Ernesto applied as a candidate in the Dutch/ Belgian 2021 LEGOMasters series, more or less as a joke. During one episode Art happened to be the central theme and he convincingly won both assignments. Not only did he receive much praise for the two works he created, he also came to find out that he had stumbled on a new way to use the medium of Lego in a truly artistic fashion, in effect, painting with Legobricks, thus, ‘Brickpainting’ was born. Consequently Ernesto was asked to perform as an artist in the television program ‘Stars on Canvas’ where he won with yet another Brickpainting.

Ernesto is continuing to explore the conventions of Lego as a medium to paint portraits. The interest in his work varies from commissions, television, projects and events as well as being validated by some of the country’s major Arts Institutions such as the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Fries Museum as well as the major Italian Institute Accademia Carrara who all have published his works online. Ernesto is currently working on several themes and ideas, actively exploring the best possibilities to share and display his work.
